Over the past week, our topic has been ‘farm animals’. Each room has explored this in different aspects such as in baby room, we focused on using puppet finger books with variations of animal sounds as well as Makaton signs. Some babies are now able to sign cow, pig, duck and horse 🐴

Toddlers were engaged within mark-making activities to create their own versions of pigs, cows and what a farm may look like. They also were given opportunities to explore small world trays using hay to feed horses as well as feeding the ducks.

In preschool room, they focused on sorting, counting and grouping farm animals. They discussed how animal had similarities and differences. One child said ‘chickens lay eggs and cows make milk’. They ended our topic with an animal yoga activity wearing masks.
