🚸🛻Land Vehicles🛻🚸
Over the last week, each room has delved into the theme of 'land vehicles' by exploring vehicle names, sounds and jobs 🚨
Preschool have been learning about road safety and emergency vehicles. This sparked discussions about a variety of traffic signs and symbols and their meaning. This led onto how and why to keep safe when crossing using stop, look and listen 🚦
In toddler room, they used vehicles to create marks in paint. This supported children with grouping vehicles by colour, size or number of wheels. Toddlers then role-played a construction site with high-vis, diggers and trucks 🚜
Babies were supported with listening to loud sirens and lights. We focused on words such as 'oh-no', 'help', 'drive'. Moreover, they were involved in soapy car washes and cardboard box train rides🚂

🎒📚School Readiness📚🎒
At Monkey Puzzle Marleigh, we support children in learning a range of skills in order to prepare for a smooth transition into primary school and later on in life...
We focus on teaching independence and self-care skills, communication and language skills, social and emotional skills, curiosity for learning, physical development as well as fine and gross motor skills 🥰
For example, during mealtimes, children are encouraged to self-serve their own food and drink using tongs, spoons and jugs. They often will help set up the tables along with using cutlery to eat while having meaningful conversations with others. Children are also supported in dressing themselves as well as putting on their coats and shoes🍽
We support children in fostering a love for learning by providing a range of activities based on interests like playdough, painting and outdoor climbing which all build hand and core strength for writing later on ✍🏻

⚗🥼STEM - Week 2 Round Up⚗🥼
Over the past two weeks, our topic has been 'science, technology, engineering and mathematics'.
Preschool were involved in a range of science experiments and discussed 'how' and 'why' things happen as well as making their own estimation of what might happen next...
They used pippets, magnifying glasses, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda and watched what happened next during their first experiment 🧪
Toddlers tested out shapes, counting objects and measuring water with cups. These activities all built on their critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills 🔢
Babies were supported with using simple tools to break ice, building towers with blocks and sand as cement. Each day, babies were also involved in exploring floating and sinking 🫗
