🥰🤸♀️Monkeynastics🤸♀️🥰
Every Monday, we offer our preschoolers a gymnastics session with our wonderful Monkeynastics teacher, Steve. During this, children are supported with their gross motor skills in a range of fun, challenging ways.
Steve uses a holistic plan that combines creativity to support young children in flexibility, balance, strength, agility, co-ordination and body awareness. Steve often brings lots of equipment for each child to have a go; such as gym mats, balance beams, tumble mats, parallel bars, mini trampolines and soft-play shapes.
In this particular session, children started off by using hoops and foam shapes to create an obstacle course. This also supported children in working together and waiting for their next turn. They then had opportunities to safely practice rolling over and swinging.

🐷🐄 Farm Animals 🐷🐄
Over the past week, our topic has been 'farm animals'. Each room has explored this in different aspects such as in baby room, we focused on using puppet finger books with variations of animal sounds as well as Makaton signs. Some babies are now able to sign cow, pig, duck and horse 🐴
Toddlers were engaged within mark-making activities to create their own versions of pigs, cows and what a farm may look like. They also were given opportunities to explore small world trays using hay to feed horses as well as feeding the ducks.
In preschool room, they focused on sorting, counting and grouping farm animals. They discussed how animal had similarities and differences. One child said 'chickens lay eggs and cows make milk'. They ended our topic with an animal yoga activity wearing masks.

🎾⚽️Sports Week⚽️🎾
In celebration of the World Cup and Wimbledon starting, each room dived into a new theme of Sports last week 🤸♂️
Preschool were particularly interested in learning about different teams in the World Cup which lead onto learning rules when playing football. They shared thinking skills in how they could make their own goals and begun arranging themselves into team red and team blue. Children played games each morning and afternoon, showing skills in tackling, kicking and saving goals 🥅
Toddlers played a range of circle games using balls, parachutes and cones. Babies explored rolling and throwing balls overarm as well as in a net. During outdoor play, toddlers would line up ready for a range of races involving running, hopping, jumping and crawling 🥇
