🦋🐛Life Cycles - Caterpillars 🐛🦋
The children have been looking at life cycles and have focused on the life cycle of a Caterpillar last week and have been learning about the story 'the hungry caterpillar'. 📚🍎🍓
The children can now talk about the life cycle and the stages of a caterpillar growing into a butterfly. The children explored creating their own butterfly prints, fed the hungry caterpillars, created their own life cycle using pasta, practiced threading leaves, created caterpillars from play dough and did a caterpillar science experiment where the caterpillars grew when the water was added to the tissue. 🌱
The children also had the exciting opportunity to observe real caterpillars growing and were very interested in watching them. They are looking forward to seeing how the caterpillars grow and change over time and this process will be shared.

💐🌷 Summer Flowers 🌷💐
Last week, the children explored the topic of summer flowers following on from the topic of bee's.
The toddler room children explored flower sensory bags, flower printing, flowers stuck in ice cubes and made their own flower perfumes with the petals from the previous activities. The toddler room children can tell us that flowers need sun, soil and water to grow after the topic ended. 🌸
The preschool room looked at each part of the flower, smelt all the different types of flower and discussed their favourite type of flower whilst researching them and recalling what a flower needs to grow. They also used petals for counting and grouping and made their own beautiful bouquets. 💐
Babies were able to use watering cans, soil and flowers to grow their very own garden. This supported their communication and language skills by being involved in discussions using key words such as dig, grow, sun, soil. They also created their own artwork using a big canvas on the wall using flowers and paint and explored flower play dough. 🌹
