Last week, to conclude our celebrations for Chinese New Year, the children welcomed Hailey from “Mando School,” also known as “Little Mandarin Classes Cambridge.” She conducted an engaging workshop, filled with stories, songs, and props for the children to enjoy!

Hailey explained the significance of Chinese New Year, particularly the association with the colour red, while narrating a story about a dragon that was frightened of this vibrant hue. The children had the opportunity to learn some Mandarin words and songs, accompanied by corresponding gestures.

Hailey brought along a lion and a dragon costume, which the children eagerly tried on. As they paraded around the room, their classmates enthusiastically banged instruments to chase away the dragon.

To complete the experience, the children decorated their own lucky envelopes to take home. Hailey placed a coin in each envelope, wishing them good fortune and luck.
