Last week, in honour of the Chinese and Lunar New Year celebrations, children from each age group enjoyed a trip to the Chinese market, which takes place every Friday just outside our nursery square.

During their visit, the children marvelled at a moving crab which they found very funny, a wide variety of fish, and an abundance of fruits and vegetables. One excited child exclaimed, “Yummy mango! I like mango!” while another recognised some vegetables and shared that they had enjoyed them for dinner. The children smelt all of the herbs to try and guess what they were.

On our way back, we passed “Salento’s,” an authentic family-run Italian deli. The children reminisced about the delicious food they had tried there with their families and even made plans to invite one another for ice cream on another day, building a special bond with one another.
